IRI's President Receives the Dato'ship Award in Penang, Malaysia
IRI President Eng Hoe Goh was well rewarded by the Penang State government on July 09, 2005 for his involvement in various charity works which improved the lives of many Malaysians. His involvement in the business sector brings revenues to the State and creates jobs for his fellow Malaysians. Dato' Goh, 52, was conferred the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN) award which carries the title of "Dato'" by the Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Di Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang Tun Dato' Seri Utama Dr. Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Abbas in conjunction with his 67th birthday. Born in 1953 in the State of Kedah , Malaysia , Dato' Goh was educated at the College of Sultan Abdul Hamid . He is the Chairman of IRM Industries Sdn. Bhd., a recycling company based in Penang , Malaysia and the President of Integrated Recycling Industries, a recycling and reclamation company based in the Philippines . Dato' Goh is the Charter President and President of Lions Club in Bayan Baru, the Deputy Chairman of the Economic Bureau in Malaysian – Chinese Association (MCA) Party. He is also a committee member of MCA. He has helped in raising fund for young cancer patients. In the Philippines , he has adopted Bahay ni Maria, a home for the abandoned aged and children in the province of Laguna and donated to thousands of victims of the 2004 landslide in the province of Quezon . The Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri order of chivalry was instituted in the year 1976 and is conferred on individuals of high position who have contributed unique and valuable services to the state. Person conferred with this honour carry the title Dato' and the wife Datin. This award is limited to 600 living persons, excluding non-Malaysians who may be conferred this award on an honorary basis. The insignia of this Order consists of a star, a riband, and a badge.
