As part of IRI's tireless commitment and advocacy in spreading community awareness on environmental preservation, college students from STI College – Sta. Rosa, Laguna, headed by Engr. Rodenlee Aquino, were welcomed to IRI last August 7, 2009. Sixty (60) Computer Engineering students were toured around the plant where they learned the different recycling methods being practiced by the company.
Before the plant tour, a brief presentation was given by IRI’s General Manager, Mr. Lee Echiverri, on the growing problem of E-wastes due to the rapid advancements in today’s technology. Several facts, trivia, and supporting data were presented to show the magnitude of the E-waste disposal problem which now burdens the entire world. In the course of the presentation, he likewise mentioned ways and alternatives on how we can all do our part to help minimize the said problem.
As a final word of encouragement, the students were reminded to impart and share what they have learned to their family and friends. Everyone was again encouraged to actively participate in different environmental programs and be energetic advocates in preserving our planet -- not only for us to benefit, but for many generations still to come.
